About me
My name is Gail, and I qualified and have been practising as an Art Therapist since 2017. I started my professional life in education as a special needs school teacher in the UK before moving to Morocco, where I lived and worked for 20 years. Following that, I moved to France, where I trained as an art therapist at the Profac school of applied psychology. Since qualifying, I have had the privilege of using art therapy to help children and adults, often traumatised by war and displacement within the Kurdish region of Iraq. Now based in South Wales, I am still passionate about inviting people to experience the benefits of art therapy.
What I can help with:
Mental health
Trauma
Cancer and palliative care
Refugees and Asylum Seekers
Additional needs and disabilities
Gender Identity
Neurodiversity
What is Art Therapy with Gail?
Sometimes words fail us. We have all experienced this. At the same time, we all have the human need to tell our story: to be seen and heard, to feel listened to and understood. Babies can’t talk, but they can communicate. So, let’s agree! Words have their limits, and it is in this space where the creative arts can be let loose and take on a life of their own.
Making and creating free us to express beyond words: whether that be a dance or a painting, creating with sand, playdough, or clay; twisting with wire, threading with beads, knitting or sewing, building or taking apart, cutting, tearing, making music, singing, rapping, playing …
Does this sound interesting to you? Does the thought of not using words feel like a safe way to explore the ‘no-go’ areas of pain or confusion in your life? Does this sound like it could be ‘fun’ or could help promote better mental health and well-being? Does a journey of discovery using the creative arts sound like an attractive way to help you explore your inner and outer world?
