The HHRI* Mental Health and Gender Based Violence Training is designed for mental health professionals working with survivors who have suffered trauma due to severe gender-based violence. It is designed particularly for those who have experienced sexual trauma during disasters, conflicts and emergency situations. The training is based on a working manual designed by the HHRI, and it uses the metaphor of the Butterfly Woman to equip helpers to explain clinical trauma in a simple and non-threatening way. This training is particularly suited for those working with refugees and asylum seekers.
